Welcome to the Port of Argentia!
The Port of Argentia is one the finest in Atlantic Canada. The
sheltered, deep-water facility is over 3 kilometres in length with
a wide turning basin. For shippers operating out of Atlantic Canada,
Argentia’s most important attribute is the year around, ice-free
access.
Port tariffs are extremely competitive when compared to other
ports in Eastern Canada. The port facilities include 835 metres
of wharf with a draft of 12 metres and the docking facilities just
had an $8-million dollar upgrade completed to it that includes a
200-tonne, heavy-lift capacity on the new 425 ft extension on the
south end of the dock. Our docking facilities can accommodate vessels
up to 300 metres with regular shipping services available such as
fuel, water, etc. These advantages have already attracted major
shipping traffic to Argentia. Marine Atlantic utilizes the port
for its ferry service between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, and
Eimskip of Iceland uses Argentia as a key centre for worldwide container
forwarding.
Argentia and Opportunities Abound
The Offshore Newfoundland Oil and Gas Industry is growing significantly
with the completion of the Hibernia project, the Terra Nova project,
