The Argentia Management Authority Inc. (AMA) added a wonderful new slice to the overall tourism product for the Town of Placentia and the surrounding communities with the official opening on June 1, 2007 of a new recreational vehicle (RV) travel trailer (TT) park, called the Argentia Sunset Park. The Sunset Park is located on a beautiful grassy hill (formerly the 1000 Housing area), just pass the main entrance way to the Argentia site, and is about one kilometre from the Marine Atlantic Ferry service.

The RV Park includes 40 RV lots measuring 25 ft wide by 80 ft long, set at 45 degrees to the existing roads, with a 10 ft buffer between each landscaped lot. The new park provides all of the necessary services expected today for the modern RV user, namely: water, sewer, and a 30-amp electrical service.

The Argentia Sunset Park is owned and operated by the AMA and is responsible for the full operation of the park, including the day-to-day booking operations and maintenance of the park facility. There will be a management and administration building located in the park where you will find personnel to assist with registering, lot location, set-up and other support activities such as washrooms, shower facilities, golf driving range and picnic area.

The new RV Park is part of the AMA’s “Tourism Argentia” Strategy which primarily is focused on capitalizing on the “tourist/visitor” traffic that want to experience the full, “first-class” tourism product that can be found within the Town of Placentia and surrounding communities, especially in respect to Argentia’s historical and military past. The AMA's tourism strategy is to entice tourists and visitors who are: 1) incoming and outgoing on the Marine Atlantic ferry, 2) vacationers who are visiting the Town of Placentia and area, and 3) special events, such as the regatta, reunions, or festivals as an additional source of accommodations to attract and keep more visitors in our historic town.

In addition to this tourism enhancement project, the AMA is actively marketing and promoting our full tourism product which includes: the Museum of the Atlantic Allies and the Argentia at War Exhibit, the 282 Coastal Defense Battery Guns, the Marine Atlantic Ferry Service, and of course, the Argentia Backland Trail. From Marine Atlantic Terminal to the Argentia Sunset Park

From the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal at Argentia head south on Road to TCH for 0.3 kms until you see the Argentia Sunset Park road sign (located on left side of road) and turn left onto Charter Ave.

Continue driving straight on Charter Ave for 2.3 kms and turn left at the Argentia Sunset Park Road Sign (located at the entrance to the park).  Proceed to the Registration attendant for lot location and enquiries.
