Certification:
The Argentia Port Corporation (APC) announces in
Press Release that it is certified compliant, as a Port
Administrator, in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, which is a
requirement of the International Maritime Organization.

Location:
Argentia Harbour is located on the east side of Placentia Bay. The harbour is entered between Low Room Point
and Broad Cove Point and extends 3 kilometres in length southwest to the head of Sandy Cove.
The navigation season is year-round. Argentia has three wharf complexes that can be utilized by shippers:
the Navy Dock; the Marine Atlantic Terminal with its roll on/off ramp facility; and the refurbished Fleet Dock,
designed to meet many shipper's needs.

Anchorage:
Long and short term sheltered anchorage is available at 1.6 kilometres from
the fleet dock.

Pilotage:
Pilotage is not compulsory. Argentia is at position 47N20'00"N, 54N
06'30"W. ETA is to be sent 12 hours prior to
arrival with confirmation 3 hours prior. Pilot messages can be
passed through 1-877-272-3477 or fax 1-877-745-3477.

Radio Frequency:
Placentia Marine Traffic operates on VHF channels 12 and 14.
|
Private Wharves:
Marine Atlantic's ferry wharf is situated north of the navy dock and is available, with prior approval
from Marine Atlantic, during the off-season (October to May).

Upland Storage:
There are over 450 hectares available, approximately 180 of which are located dockside.
|
Cranes:
There is a heavy lift crane pad on the wharf built for a 200 tonne mobile crane at minimum radius.
|
Provisions:
Supplies are available in a limited quantity locally or from nearby St. John's.
|
Bunkers:
Fuel is available from a variety of providers by tanker truck.
|
Fresh Water:
Fresh water is available at all berths.
|
Repairs:
Local contractors can perform minor repairs. Major repairs must be undertaken by companies from nearby St. John's
or Marystown.
|
Medical Facilities:
The Placentia Health Care Complex is located at Placentia (6.5 kilometres). Four other hospitals are located in
St. John's (130 kilometres).
