REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
Cargo Vessel Service operating between the Ports of Belledune and Argentia
Argentia NL - The Argentia Port Corporation Inc. is requesting proposals from interested and qualified entities to operate a cargo vessel service between the Port of Belledune, New Brunswick and the Port of Argentia, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The proposed transportation connection linking the Port of Belledune with the Port of Argentia would provide for a competitive option to service Newfoundland, and particularly the Avalon Peninsula, with drop trailers from New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario. The Belledune Port Authority and Argentia Port Corporation are eager to move forward with the cargo service. The Ports are eager to discuss with interested vessel owners and operators the potential for new business in the region. The objective of the Ports is to have a regular, year round service calling both ports.

The Port of Argentia is located on the east side of Placentia Bay on the south east coast of Newfoundland. The harbour is entered between Low Room Point and Broad Cove Point and extends 3 kilometers in length southwest to the head of Sandy Cove. Argentia is located in the centre of the world's major shipping lanes with an excellent ice-free port, extensive buildings and infrastructure, and a skilled, work force.

Argentia, NL, March 23, 2011. Argentia Management Authority (AMA) is pleased with the announcement today by Hon. Peter McKay, Minister of National Defence, on behalf of Minister of Transport, Hon. Chuck Strahl, of funding for a Roll On Roll Off (Ro Ro) Service for the Port of Argentia under the Short Sea Shipping component of the Atlantic Gateway Strategy.
AMA Chair (Acting) Mr. John Seay stated, “We have been working on this project through our subsidiary, the Argentia Port Corporation, for some time now and are pleased and grateful that the Government of Canada has today agreed to support the development of this Ro Ro Service for Argentia”.
AMA CEO Harvey Brenton said, “Discussions are ongoing with our marine partners at the Port of Belledune in New Brunswick and others involved in the transport industry in Atlantic Canada. Our vision is a short sea service that is cost competitive and reliable for the users, and will support the flow of increased container traffic to and from Newfoundland and Labrador”.
With this announcement, AMA and its partners can now set to work to develop the commercial arrangements for construction and operation of this important service for Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Atlantic Gateway region.

Argentia Appoints New Manager, Business Development and Marketing
Argentia, NL, February 28, 2011. Argentia Management Authority CEO Harvey Brenton announced today the
appointment of Chris Newhook as Manager, Business Development and Marketing. Chris joins the AMA team with 27 years of business and
management experience across the private and non-profit sectors. For the past 13 years he has served as Executive Director with the
Placentia Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Brenton, CEO, said, "With Chris’s successful involvement in working with other community partners to support the Vale project
and others in our region, he brings valuable business development experience to this role. Chris is clearly committed to the further
economic development of the Placentia area and I look forward to working closely with him".
Harvey Mercer, previous acting CEO stated, "With his background in banking and business advocacy, Chris brings a strong combination
of experience and skills to this position. We are confident that Chris and our newly appointed CEO Harvey Brenton will form a dynamic
management team for the AMA on a go forward basis"..
John Seay, Chair (Acting) also stated, "Chris is familiar with many of the businesses and other stakeholders in the AMA operating
environment and can move quickly into place to support important business development opportunities the AMA is currently working on.

Background
Chris Newhook began his career in operations management with the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1984 serving in progressively senior
positions throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, and then in Toronto, Ontario. In 1993 he returned to Newfoundland and Labrador
and accepted the position of Business Instructor with College of the North Atlantic, Placentia Campus. In 1997, he joined the
Placentia Area Chamber of Commerce as Executive Director where he has, among other duties, worked diligently with community
partners to enhance regional business participation in new industrial development in the area. Chris holds a B. Comm. (1984)
and MBA (1998) from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He resides in Placentia.

Argentia Appoints New CEO Argentia, NL, February 23, 2011.
The Argentia
Management Authority Inc. (AMA) and its’
subsidiary the Argentia Port Corporation (APC),
are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr.
Harvey Brenton as their new Chief Executive
Officer (CEO). The AMA is a business
development organization with a mandate to
market and redevelop the former U. S. Naval
Facility located at Argentia in the Town of
Placentia.
Acting CEO (Consultant) Harvey Mercer stated, "we have the projects at
Argentia to attract huge investment to our Town, create new job
opportunities for our residents, add to the Town’s tax base, and position
us well into this decade, and we firmly believe that our new CEO will
provide the right leadership to bring this vision to fruition."
AMA Acting Chairperson John Seay said, "Harvey Brenton is a seasoned
manager with more than thirteen years’ experience working in business
development at Argentia. On behalf of the Board of Directors,
management and staff, we offer our congratulations to Harvey on his
appointment and offer him our full support in moving the business
development of Argentia forward."
Brenton said, "I feel extremely honoured to
accept the position of Chief Executive Officer with
the AMA organization at this very important and
exciting period because Argentia is very well
situated to successfully bring a number of major
projects to fruition, thereby redefining the
Argentia site as the best location for companies
to establish and do business."
Throughout his career, Harvey has always felt
that one must give back to his community and the Province in which we
live, work and play. Therefore, he has consistently volunteered in
numerous business organizations, such as the St. John’s Board of Trade
provincially and locally with the Placentia Area Chamber of Commerce.
