AMA Elects New Executive and Welcomes New Director for 2005

Argentia, NL, May 2, 2005. On Monday, May 2, 2005, the Argentia Management Authority Inc. (AMA) held its Annual General Meeting and election of officers for the AMA Board of Directors for the positions of Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, and Secretary/Treasurer. The Board of Directors and their positions for 2004 includes:

Chairperson Mercer offered congratulations and a warm welcome to our newest Board member, Mr. John Kelly, on his successful selection to the AMA Board of Directors. Mr. Kelly has an extensive business background and his experience will compliment the strategic direction of the AMA with its redevelopment efforts for the Argentia site.

At the AGM, General Manager, Mr. Ken Browne, presented the financial statements for the AMA and its subsidiaries, the Argentia Properties Services Inc. (APS), and the Argentia Port Corporation (APC), for 2004, and provided budget projections up to and including 2009. In reviewing the past year of activities, it was noted that Argentia has certainly turned the corner since the US Navy closed the Argentia base in October 1994. A solid foundation has been created in Argentia, and the economic future looks bright for the Town of Placentia and the surrounding communities.
