General Description
Originally built as a Mess Hall in 1956, this building has a total
of 81,000 sq. ft./7,530 m2 of floor space on two levels. The lower
or basement level has about half the area of the main or first floor
level.
The layout of this building is that of an inverted "T".
The main section along the front is cathedral-like in construction
with a roof slab height of approximately 22 ft./6.7 m in the entre
and 16 ft./4.8 m along the side walls. Other sections of the first
level have a ceiling height of between 9-12 ft./2.7-3.6m.
Located on the first floor are a variety of office spaces, furniture
refinishing business, a dry cleaning/laundry operation and a local
craft manufacturing operation.
A 135 seat movie theatre with large storage rooms, a concession
counter, office, and washrooms occupy the right wing of the building.
The theatre is also equipped to accommodate live stage shows and
currently offers shows during the summer season.
The administrative section shares a separate entrance and lobby
with the theatre. This section has a reception area, a general office/work
space, and five private offices.
A fully operational laundry and dry cleaning facility with related
office and storage rooms occupy the left wing of this building.
Tenants currently operating from this building are: B & B Crafts,
Northern Nutrition, RavenWood Industries, Marquise Theatre, Argentia
Drycleaning & Laundry Plant, and the AMA Administration Offices.
