The Point Verde Building
BUILDING 507M
General Description
This facility (formerly a warehouse and electrical substation),
with a total floor area of 14,500 sq.ft./1,350 m2, is comprised
of two different structures.
The original building was constructed in 1942 with approximately
8,290 sq. ft./770 m2 of floor space and an estimated roof height
of 28-30 ft./8.5-9.1 m. When built, the left half was a generator
room and the right a boiler room with a row of related machinery
rooms along the back. These areas are now being used as storage/warehouse
space.
At a later date, a 6,250 sq. ft./580 m2 extension was added. This
section contained a diesel generator, which has since been removed;
and the main electrical switchgear substation for the base, which
is still operational. An overhead crane with a 5 ton capacity is
installed. There is a small two-storey administration section along
the right side. It contains a workshop on the first level while
two offices occupy the second.
